View Full Version : Best nVidia drivers

Okay, so the past few drivers, as we all know, have had a myriad of issues, the 17* drivers especially. Heck, I'm using ArchLinux with 169.12 and I still have a couple of issues.

So here's the question: What are the 'best' Linux drivers in recent memory? By that I mean drivers that are up to par performance-wise and are relatively bug free.

And yes, this was posted on the nVidia forums as well.

I'm having strange tearing with the most recent driver on Arch64 mit Xfce and xfwm-compositing activated.

Any ideas?

Turn on Vsync. Tearing is caused by the video card updating the framebufer in the middle of a screen draw.
Vsync makes each frame buffer update tied to the refresh rate. Your frame rate will drop, but your tearing should go away.
