Back before ATI had acquired Macrosynergy from XGI, XGI Technology had a semi-hopeful future of producing low-to-mid-range graphics cards and presenting consumers with an additional choice. Their binary Linux drivers had sucked, and that's putting it in nice words...

This is interesting.
There is a Linux computer that ships with XGI graphics, namely the Lemote Fulong 2F (http://www.lemote.com/products/ss_fuloong2f.html) (Google translation (http://www.google.com/translate_c?sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http://www.lemote.com/products/ss_fuloong2f.html)) which has an XGI V2 GPU.

As this box will only run Linux, the Lemote developers might continue the driver development.
