Hi
Im a newbee and I have WIn XP on my computer and now I want to:

When I start the computer I want to have the possibility to choose to boot into:

1. Splashtop just to boot fast and browse, check mail, write a small note and so on

OR

2. Boot into Win XP

From Splashtop I also want to have the possibility to boot to Win XP. (If possible without restart computer)

Can someone help me??
I'm not experienced so can somone tell me in a simple way how to do it AND what programs I need to do it?

Well, the script creates 2 partitions, the first is labeld DVMUSB , FAT16, and marked active + installed bootloader. Most easy way is to use it and backup your data first...

Yes indeeed.I got that partitions on mine 1gb usb stick , but once booted form there, the system give me ..There is any to boot..

Any suggestions ?

Then there was no bootloader installed. That happens when the requirements for the scripts are not met.

Kano,

I recently got your sqx for the iwl4965 wireless drivers. My system loads the drivers but will not list any wireless access points. I tried your suggestions previously posted here (ifconfig, iwlist s, etc.) but they did not help. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I can not test that due to missing hardware. I do not own a laptop at all. Try ndiswrapper + windriver (needs mod of the sqx).

I guess the screen res is just too low - the default menu is for 1024x768. Maybe try with external monitor connected.

Hi Kano,
why donīt you release an ISO version,
which one can use via UnetBootin
to put easily on a USB stick drive ?

Where can I download such an completed ISO file
for USB sticks ?
Many thanks.

Maybe i am a perfectionist, but everybody who likes to test gets a new iso.

Yes, I would like to test it.
Please let me know, where I can download
a ready to use ISO file that installs to a USB stick via
UnetBootin 3.23

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Kano,
your information is outdated.
It is already Open Source.
You can already download free SDKs
over here:
http://www.splashtop.com/open_source.php

Please post a working ISO for USB stick which works
with UnetBootin 3.23 to make a working USB stick
version.
Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

This is not an SDK but only a bunch of source files and patches. Not even the kernel config is included and it is not possible to compile a working version from these sources, as the bootloader is not included at all. An SDK would be a complete environment with all the necesarry development libraries and compilers, but it is even unclear which compiler version they use.

If you want a working version on an USB stick, just follow the instructions above.

Dear Kano: I successfully executed your script to install Splashtop on USB with grub boot. I can get it to boot, but unfortunatelly, I get the infamous "EXPRESS GATE IS NOT INSTALLED IN THIS COMPUTER OR THE INSTALLATION IS INCOMPLETE..." warning.

I tried SSD version 1.2.4.0 and also 1.4.10.8, both with the same result.

Maybe I understood it the wrong way, but that script is supposed to work with "non-express gate" Asus motherboards right?

I have an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe, which of course doesn't have the Express Gate feature.

Can you guide me on what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance, Ariel.

I don't know if you used it for testing in vbox already, then you might have got a splash.idx file on the stick you have to remove first. Or maybe there is a file on your hd with that name (only in / of a partition).

I didn't try it on VBox. Version 1.2.4.0 does not have a splash.idx file, there is no such file on the usb stick nor on the hard drive. I have Windows XP on the hard drive, I created the usb stick using Knoppix 6.0.1 installed on a VMWARE virtual machine.
