Looks very interesting. The available source is just stripped already, it only has got the new driver - in new dirs called x740{_64a}. I would like to see the original installer.

Hmm, well it works (see screen shot). Don't know how they got to the Ubuntu forums before they got here (http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html) but I guess 15 days to Ubuntu 8.10 release was enough pressure for someone somewhere.
