Hi Michael, I was wondering if you had seen this page: Video for Everybody (http://camendesign.com/code/files/video_for_everybody/test.html)

The website describes it as: Video For Everybody is very simply a chunk of HTML code that embeds a video into a website using the HTML5 <video> element which offers native playback in Firefox 3.5 and Safari 3 & 4. It has multiple fallbacks, including a download link if none of the fallbacks are available.

It sounds like a nice feature.

When there is an "Ads for Everybody" I would consider a Video for Everybody service, but until that point Phoronix readers are recommended to have Adobe Flash support installed whether it be through the Adobe software, Gnash, or another SWF alternative.

Nevermind the fact that I don't see how advertisements and video are necessarily joined at the hip, there is such a thing as "Ads for Everybody". It's called <img>.

Back to the topic, I don't see why they have to be mutually exclusive. Why can't you have streaming Flash videos on the site for those who don't mind them, and then have a link to other videos?
