For there not being a whole lot of information about this game floating about, there seems to be quite a bit of hype around it (well maybe just in the Linux community).
I would be great to have some more quality games on Linux that aren't FPS. World of Goo was worth the cash, and it sounds like this might be too.
I would love a key if there are still any available.

Hello, I would like to get a key for the beta. I'm glad to see the continued development by S2 games for the Linux community, I played Savage quite frequently years ago. Recently tried Savage 2 but it was a bit taxing on my laptop, hope this game is not as demanding but I will offer to test on 7800 GTX GO 256mb and Pentium M 2.0GHz system for your low/medium requirements. :)

I've been playing Savage 2 since they released the Linux Client and I would love a beta key to try out their latest game, nothing but love and respect for S2.

More keys sent out... Note to all who haven't requested yet: as long as there is a Linux user out there who wants beta access but doesn't have it, there is a key for you. As far as I know, and as what's been shown far, I can get as many keys as needed if you are interested in testing it out and run Linux. So there is no need to ask any questions about "still having keys", etc.
And if you need multiple keys for friends/family/whatever, make a separate post for each request, as it's easier to manage them that way.
Lastly, please try to refrain from the one-line requests... Try to add something to the conversation or your thoughts on Linux gaming, S2 Games, whatever. If all else fails, just tell us what your favorite beer is, but please try to contribute to the discussion.
For those of you that are new here, see above.

I'd like a beta key, please.
I have always bought Linux-native games (the iD ones especially, I am an FPS lover) but also things like World of Goo, just to support the vendors who support Linux. I'll buy this game when it's available.
I'm hopeful that more games will be made available for Linux, but also realistic - Microsoft has a lot of marketing muscle and they have done well to lock vendors into DirectX... even when they shut out 90% of Windows users by making DX10 Vista-only. Amazing.
I love how Microsoft describes DirectX as "cross-platform" - it supports Windows and (kinda) XBox 360. I guess that for a Microsoftie, those are the only platforms that matter...
The progress of OpenGL in the last year, and also OpenCL and other technologies, is encouraging but it's not really meaningful when nVidia is the only company providing driver support. Lucky for me, I'm as much an nVidia fan as an iD one!

I would love to try this game out. I have been Linux only for a while and can't wait to have a game like this!
Howdy.
Remembered playing Savage all those years ago :D.
Also eager to try this out on my netbook (MSI wind+, so GMA950 gfx lol, this game will rock if it runs on netbooks, i mentioned to my brother that dota/war3 will never die, as war3 runs on netbooks, so everyone will just move to that!), as well as giving it a crack on my dual core GTX260+ powered machine.
Lets see how well ubuntu likes it :D

Great work from S2 Games on their game engine supporting so many platforms with graphics 'that' beautiful, great gameplay, tons of characters on screen and running amazingly smooth (as I saw on the videos, have to test by myself yet). If they find market for selling the engine too, just like the guys from Unigine Corp., them we cold see more titles being released with 0-day GNU/Linux support from their licensees. It would be great if you could have an interview with someone from S2 Games Michael, and ask if they intend to release their middleware for third-part developers anytime soon. Although it sure doesn't look as pretty as Unigine, it tackles another game niche where running smoothly with tons of units on-screen is more important than supporting the latest OpenGL extensions and effects, and provide for more creative gameplay.
.
I'm now downloading Savage 2 too. This really seems to be a great game engine and very versatile too. The guys at S2 Games are doing a great work and serve as example to the people that say that it's not possible.

Could I please get a beta key to try Heroes of Newerth on linux. I use linux as my main operating system but .... I have to still keep a windows partition due to the lack of native support for linux with games.
It is about time that games companies woke up to the fact that Linux is becoming the standard for many home users that are sick and tired of Windows and its problems.
Personally I would happily pay for a Linux version of a game rather than a windows version.
Just my 2 cents worth
Thanks :D

I sure would like to take part in the beta testing! And i've got some ATI, Nvidia and Intel hardware to test it on. Gaming is actually the only reason to keep my windowsbox around... We most definitely need more strategy games and RPGs on linux!
I would like to test it too.

Not sure my current computer can run this game all that well, as I'm stuck with an X1600 and therefore poor 3D support (in Jaunty, at least), but I guess that is also beta testing!
Anyway, I'm getting a new PC within the next 2-3 months, which could make the testing a bit more fun, so I would also like a key :)
update: 64 bit binaries - even more interesting!

I've beta tested Linux ports before (LGP) and (Wolfire Games).
Would love to support you're attempts especially after I paid for the first Savage game on Linux a few years back...
I would GREATLY like to beta test this game and request a beta key please.
Hi, I would also like to participate in this beta. :)
Heheh... Me too.. want to join the fray!
A little suggestion:
please make it so we can play on low-powered-graphic machine too, like intel 3xxx and 4xxx one.
Well, with more stable and usable 3D on ATI side on not-to-distant-future, then I only can get an applause to this kind of move ;)
..And a little dream, that NVidia will open their source too, heheh.
hi
I would like a beta key for the game because I haven't played many games that have a native linux client.

I would like to have a glimpse at this game. The last online-game experience i had on linux was Regnum Online...well, it would be very lovely to see some professional game development.
And maybe a game that manages to leave a beta-like state after a finite measure of time...

I must say it would be really cool to follow the development of a game from closed beta to finished product... on Linux! So I'm here to request a beta key too.
Now, let's just hope that when the screaming hordes of Linux gamers finally sit down to try the game, after extolling the virtues of the developers and their attention to Linux, they find that the game just... for lack of a better way to put it... sucks! :)
I would be very pleased if I can try this game. I'm playing dota everyday. Thanks!

I would LOVE to see another native linux game in action...(etracer just doesn't gives me the KICK i need after switching to Ubuntu). I've been using windows since 13 years now (OMG) and went slowly form hardcore gamer to design - and now to a #!er.
It would be interesting to be part of a beta team.
Any chance of getting that key?

I'd love a beta key for this game as I use kubuntu for everything now, only having to switch over to Windows for gaming and CAD. It would be really good to move one step closer to a single operating system.
I really hope the game developers take notice of the obvious keen interest in linux ports, or even dedicated linux gaming.

I'd like to receive a beta key please.
I'm excited that S2 keeps releasing its games as multi-platform, and the native 64-bit binaries are amazing news. And a bit of a slap in most other companies' faces. I was a bit disappointed that Demigod is Windows-only but this one should fix the issue :)
Happy times ahead for us non-Windows-junkies, considering S2's games, World of Goo, the upcoming Overgrowth game, 0 AD, and maybe more that I'm missing at the moment.
I'm running 32-bit Zenwalk and 64-bit Ubuntu Studio and I'd like to test Heroes of Newerth.
By the way, I bought UT 3 and I'm still waiting for the promised Linux native client ;)

Phoronix: Come Play This New Linux-Native Game With Us!
S2 Games may not be as well known as id Software or Epic Games, but what distinguishes them from most of the other game companies is that they actually support Linux. With S2 Games' Savage 2, for example they provide a Linux-native game client...

Hello,
I would really appreciate a beta key.
I only buy games that will run on linux natively (I would even consider it if the game publisher made an effort to ensure that it runs in wine, but truly native is preferred).
I'd like to try this game out on a number of computers I have with various graphics processors. I'm fairly certain that it would work with the proprietary nvidia driver (what doesn't?), but am interested if it will work on my sony notebook with an older intel chip in Jaunty.
thanks!

I would like to test the beta game. Please send me a key!
I'm actively helping Linux gaming, buying Linux games and helping the creation of opensource ones. Just recently I am very happy to play the Penumbra Series which has a native Linux client as well. Also loved Neverwinter Nights 1 on Linux. I'm happy to see quality games being born for this cool and stable platform. The driver side tho is a bit too varied in quality, but I alway go for the card with the best binary driver, so you will guess what video card I have. :)
If interested what's going on in opensource gaming (for linux as well) check for example the freegamer community. (http://forum.freegamedev.net
