View Full Version : ASUS M51Ta complete fglrx failure

The ASUS M51Ta works only with ati oss driver, fglrx is unable to init graphics. It seems that fglrx has problems when there are 2 VGA devices:

01:05.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics] [1002:9612]
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3650 [1002:9591]

Usually the system crashes then. That's the worst fglrx experience possible even on PURE ATI/AMD hardware. When will that work? Must be a joke when Intel+ATI works better than pure AMD+ATI.

Just stick with OSS Radeon and forget about 3D for now. 2D and XV works without a hintch

What da HELL---- nono we don't neet openBeta.. amd still have all hartware in intern testing and NDA beta testers...

Kano, were you ever able to get an xorg log from a failing startup ?

Not with a "pure" driver, i got one with a patched driver (9-7) and 2.6.30. Then it was a segfault. But that's not my laptop, i just had it to install - no further tests possible. Best order it and test yourself.
