Since it's not Phenom II, then I'd say no. Speed gain would be quite marginal.

From an X2-4800 to a Phenom 9850, the difference is quite unbelievable. Go for it.

rather no. Ditch the Phenom I . get the Athlon II if you want something better, but I would suggest you to get Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition or 545 .

I own the 500 myself and they are awesome, I have unlocked the 2 dormant cores and overclocked to 3.8ghz stable :)
