Bratwurst und Bier. :D
I live in Greece now and it would be a pretty big trip, so nope :(
I don't drink alcohol, so not that excited. But I'll be in Munich around that time due to a school trip for a week :P

Yeah, and guess what, not all Germans like "Bratwurst", "Weißwurst" and "Volksmusik" Gotta love prejudices, and during "Oktoberfest" they all come together

How can anyone not love Weißwurst? Especially if eaten the Bayern way (zuzeln?) and served with a liter of Augustiner. Haha, but yes I understand.

Weißwurst was actually invented by the French.
Seriously though, Oktoberfest is the worst time to see Munich.

I've been to Munich enough before, I am not going to see the town.. just Theresienwiese and my other favorite biergartens to get my quota of Augustiner and (fresh) Spaten for a while :)

We'll also attend several "Biergartens" (LOL) outside the Oktoberfest during the time... when you see someone with an "AMD - Smarter Choice" t-shirt, it's probably me :D

There is another big german Volksfest called Cannstatter Wasen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannstatter_Wasen) at the same time near Stuttgart. Some people say it's better that the Oktoberfest. But there are always fanboys ;).
I never have been at the Oktoberfest in Munich but I definitively want to go there. Maybe next year.
P.S. I like Weißwurst, Bratwrust and of course Bier!

well heres L33F3R in the middle. L33F3R loves his booze and weed, but L33F3R is the first to recognise that d2kx clearly holds a grudge on Americans for that somewhat disrespectful post. I find it particularly distasteful whether or not it was intended as a joke.

If you read the thread from the beginning, you'll notice that it was meant as a joke. I'm sorry if someone feels offended, I didn't want to hurt anyone ;) Post removed.

But please. Don't do it like some others by leaving 'strange smelling marks' in front of my house... :).

Where else would I expect a sane and tasteful person? (Though speaking of sanity in connection with Oktoberfest seems euphemistic :))

Thank you Qaridarium. Now I'm sick...
Weißbier is no beer! It tastes like beer + bananajuice!
Anykind of Pils is the beer to drink! Ok, not Oetinger. This you can only use to clean your windows...
But there is so much other tasty stuff:
Koelsch
Schwarzbier (already mentioned.)
Porter
Bock (Doppel-Bock for real men :D )
But NEVER drink Weissbier!
PS: Bavaria does not belong to Germany! They are discards! Bavarians dont like rest of Germany (especially North-Germany aka Saupreuss), and rest of Germany dont like them! So just ignore Bavaria and visit other nice places in Germany! :)

I've been to the Wasen last year, and am going again this year. It's smaller in setup than the Wiesn (or so I've heard) but it is incredibly fun nonetheless. Also a bit of the same setup: 12 tents (of which 1 wine tent and 1 fish tent) and a huge (and fairly cheap) fair around it:)
P.S. while there might be people who don't like Weißwurst, everybody *loves* feuerwurst :p

rule of beer: people from the Rhine don't know anything about it. Kölsch, Alt. It is crap.
second rule of beer: Einbecker. It rules.
third rule of beer: Eisbock is the greatest.

1 more German here who doesn't drink any beer at all. Really. Even though I come from one of the 2 areas with the highest annual per head beer consumption (Bavaria & Saxony). But Munich would surely be woth a visit, they use Linux there. :)
And the Bavarian forests are supposed to be a nice place, too.
And I like Nürnberger (Nuremberger sausages) and Weißwurst. But not the honey-nut-mustard, I prefer my mustard to be plain and simple.

Good thing I actually am in Munich over the next week :)
