hi , i got an asus g2 , i want to use it mainly for multimedia creation(blender and others) and music creation also.

thisl laptop has a movility radeon x1700 but in this page

http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

there's only drivers for the x1600 and x1800 ,

do you know if i can still install ubuntu on my asus g2 ?

maybe if i use the x1800 drivers , they can do it.

i got vista preinstalled and i want to install also ubuntu studio,
in vista the video card is working , whren i install ubuntu i need the ati drivers for linux right ?

As there is only one fglrx (why the hell ATI/AMD give thousands of search-paths to ONE driver?!), it should work with your 1700, yes.
Just try it.

You can run Ubuntu live from the CD to see if the card works before commiting to removing Windows.
