First of all I think its GREAT that you decided to add a forum. This site has been one of my favorites for a long time, its nice to be able to "meet" you and other "Phoronix Phans" :D .
Now, one thing I'd like to see changed would be the minimum resolution the forum scales to. My laptop is 1024x768 and I have to scroll horizontally to see everything.
Thanks.

I think the forum is cool too. Just to add... I'd would suggest changing the icon button to enable the quick reply... I had to figure it out by myself! :D

I have this problem on my laptop as well. It'd be very nice if someone could fix. :)

Already suggested in the Pre-Launch Feedback thread (http://www.phoronix.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3). The response:
I'll look into possibly having it changed from its 1070px fixed width.

Thanks for the suggestions. The fixed-width layout should now be decreased by 50px. This should assist those running 1024 x 768. The transition seemed to be smooth, however, if anyone comes across malformed pages now, please report them.

Okay, that's a little better now, but still not quite there for 1024x768. I found out that if you change the top logo size and all instances of "1020" to "990", it fits perfectly. It's probably not a good idea to let the browser resize the logo, though, since it can have an unwanted impact on letter shapes, making them harder to read.

Yep, it should hopefully be addressed now. Thanks for everyone's comments. However, if anyone comes across any malformed pages when it comes to any of the objects being too large, etc... please report them.

Looks all good now! Thanks for fixing it. There seems to be a little alignment problem in the New Posts page (http://www.phoronix.net/forums/search.php?do=getnew). Only a minor glitch, barely noticeable. I still wish the WYSIWYG editor font in the text field was a more plain like Bitstream Vera Sans. I'm comparing to another vBulletin forum here that uses a much more clear font in its editor. I haven't been able to find the code bit for comparison, though, but I can post a screenshot. Actually, try comparing the text field font to the one outside. The difference should be clear.

I haven't received any other feedback about the WYSIWYG editor font, however, feel free to post a screenshot. I will experiment with the font, right now I believe it is set to Arial.

Done.
Phoronix editor (http://mlg3.net/~shadewalker/dump/vbulletin_phoronix.png)
Other vBulletin editor (http://mlg3.net/~shadewalker/dump/vbulletin_clear.png)
If you make a side-by-side comparison, you should clearly see the difference.

Is it better now? It was supposed to be Arial, however, I just removed some of the CSS, and now it looks like it might have fixed the issue.

It still looks the same to me. Whatever you changed doesn't seem to have an impact on the WYSIWYG editor text field.

Is anyone else coming across this editor problem?

That's exactly what it looks like on my end execpt my font in the text box is courier. It's very readable. I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.4 on slackware-current.

What browser do you use? I'm on Firefox. I just tested it in Konqueror and it looks alright. So it's a browser-issue on my side. Still somewhat weird that the other forum would display it alright, though.

Ahh, so courier it is. I'll keep that in mind.

I'm still getting courier in the editor in Firefox 1.08 and Konqueror 3.5.2.

What browser do you use?I just set it to Bitstream Vera Sans in my Firefox setup. In the Fonts config dialog, changing the font for "Monospace" did the trick.

Can you confirm that your "Monospace" font is not Courier?

Correct, my Monospace font is NOT courier.
If it helps you out, the CSS style for the WYSIWYG editor text is "arial, sans-serif, verdana".

Not sure where you set that. I just looked int the user CP, and at the bottom of the user options, there a dropdown that allows setting the editor to "full WYSIWYG". This allows previewing posts in real-time (size, etc.). I'm not sure if this overrides the Monospace font, though.

That CSS style is an admin option, and should be applied to all users. So far I haven't received any other reports of WYSIWYG editor text problems.

Changing the monospace font to arial 'fixed' it, but I actually like it with courier. Have you tried creating a non-admin user and testing it out Michael?

The correct WYSIWYG editor font is appearing for me, even if logging out of the account, etc...

Hey guys,
Grats on the phorums, they look great. Now for a couple ideas I have had.
1) How about adding a field underneath the username, where people can list what Distro they use?
2) Broken FAQ? (http://www.phoronix.net/forums/faq.php)
3) Is there a way to adjust the forums to appear in the more common threaded mode? With the user information to the left instead of on top?
4) I haven't seen any signatures yet.. are they ruled out? Would you consider small non-HTML sigs?
That's all I can think of. Keep up the good work :)

1. There is a field in the profile where they can add their Linux Distribution of use.
2. FAQ isn't currently implemented. Is there a link still showing up somewhere in the forum for the FAQ page?
3. Due to no avatars at this point, the username and other relevant information is moved to the top.
4. Signatures should be enabled.
