FGLRX + Which Distribution + Which Kernel?

So I've been waiting for the 8.42 for years now...

I need to install linux for my laptop soon...

I want to use AIGLX.

My VCard is a X1400 (dell laptop).

So which distributions and kernel will play nicely with 8.42?

I do not like Fedora. Debian and Gentoo are preferred.
