Hello Michael, do you know if ATI will change the install script of his Linux driver? At that time it's not easy to install a driver and the procedure (is it english) change for all OS.

I think the best is to use a software like autopackage ( www.autopackage.org ). Who can install a software on all Linux Os with the same procedure. But I don't know if they can use it for a driver?

And, do you know if they will change the Catalyst contrôle panel for a beautiful control panel build for qt4?

Tank you

ATI will not be changing their installer.

Qt4 will not be adopted by them anytime soon either.

The base of the installer is makeself, thats commonly used in many installers. I analysed it already and tried a mod with lzma (7zip) compression. Look:

If you want an extra easy install of latest ATI drivers use my distro. Kanotix Thorhammer 6B installs the 8.42.3 driver even in live mode, when you add

fglrx

as bootoption (cheatcode). You can test it with beryl, but sometimes the screen gets just white. Not yet fully debugged that driver...
