I am using :-
1. Fedora Core 4
2. Xorg 6.8.2

the open source driver does not seem to work for me.
It gives a message like: -

No chipset found ......

also i dont have r300_dri.so in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/

it only has r200_dri and radeon_dri.so.

Is that the reason that my chipset is not detected.

If yes then do i have to reinstall Xorg and mesa to get radeon to work....

Also i wanted to know the following..

1. the features currently supported by readeon driver on the chipset. (eg.. 2D,3D accel, AIGLX, will compiz work,)

2. glxgears FPS. I currently get 1600 with fglrx driver..

Thank You,

Michael

You need to upgrade for open-source R300/400 support as it didn't happen until X.Org 7.1 where as you're still using 6.8.2.

The Xpress 200 has really been a black sheep on Linux... The open-source support for this IGP is quite poor. You may have a bit more luck using the binary fglrx driver.
