Hi there folks, it's my first post in the site.
I was using the "stable" 8.40 driver +xgl to get compiz working, and since the release of the 8.42 I've been struggling the get aiglx working. I've been trhough the rialto chips bug(my card is pci-e), and when I had time I anxiously installed the catalyst 7.12 and.... it just doesn't work. The fglrx module loads flawlessly, and there is NO ERROR in syslog, Xorg.0.log or gdmlog(:0.log file in /var/log/gdm), however gdm freezes the whole system when it's started so I have to reboot it.

A few months ago I was using Debian unstable, but due to the problems I had with AIGLX I downgraded to stable, as it didn't solved I reinstalled the whole system as Debian stable(at that time I wasn't aware of the driver bug, I found that out here in phoronix forums).
So, I use debian stable 4.0, xorg 1:7.1.0-19 from backports.org and have no packages from testing.

My mobo is an intel D865PERL with a pentium 4(northwood) 2.6 ghz HT CPU

After changing the xorg.conf back to vesa driver, I made some tests, and I as I said before I load fglrx modules without errors:

Jan 4 16:41:16 localhost kernel: [fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 1898 MBytes.
Jan 4 16:41:16 localhost kernel: [fglrx] ASYNCIO init succeed!
Jan 4 16:41:16 localhost kernel: [fglrx] PAT is enabled successfully!
Jan 4 16:41:16 localhost kernel: [fglrx] module loaded - fglrx 8.44.3 [Dec 19 2007] on minor 0

but when checking /proc/interrupts:

delorean:/proc# cat /proc/interrupts

0: 631058 0 IO-APIC-edge timer

seems like no irq has been assigned

Somebody had a similar problem?

Someone who has a 7.12 install with an AGP card working could post the contents of /proc/interrupts here so I could compare it?

Thanks in advance.

In your bios try lowering your agp aperture. that's how i just got mine to work.

I gave it up man
felt back to the 8.40 driver
I lost too much time already

I`m gonna wait for another release to use AIGLX
