Okay, time for some advertisement:
I just uploaded the announcement for the brand new release of the new 1.4 stable series. Have a look at the release notes (http://www.wesnoth.org/start/1.4/) to get an idea about the huge amount of changes. I uploaded some new screenshots to our screenshots page (http://www.wesnoth.org/wiki/Screenshots).
If you want to get this release, either ask your package manager if it is already there (it is at least available in Debian unstable and Gentoo), or get the sources from http://www.wesnoth.org/.
