I am running mythtv (mythbuntu) with FGLRX 8.3. Watching videos works fine, but when I watch live tv the tv image is doubled vertically (see the picture).

I am convinced that this is related to the video driver since the output is fine with the radeonhd driver. However radeonhd doesn't have xv support, which means I can't play HD videos. :(
My GPU is a Radeon X1250 (RS690) and I have this problem with both VideoOverlay and OpenGLOverlay.

I've never seen that before, but i get distorted colors on playback using mythtv's internal player. Also using an x1250 and 8.3.
Have you tried zooming and stretching the image? (W and CTRL+W)

WHiterocker, which problem do you have -- doubled image (presumably something to do with interlaced input) or distorted colours ?

If it has to do with interlaced input you folks could try to change the deinterlacer for myth.
(Found in playback settings)

Thank you Slegge and Bridgman!
Changing the interlacer helps. Whiterocker, you should try this. When I get back home in a couple of days I will have time to play more with the interlacer settings to see which interlacers that work and which don't.

Ahh, good :) What version of mythtv, xorg, etc, etc are you using? I never got that double image thingy, but i got distorted colors all the time, and i'm starting to think it might be something with my setup rather than myth since it works for you.

What xorg version are you using? and is it a 32 or 64bit system?

I have seen the same problem on mythbuntu hardy beta, amd64, fglrx 8.3. I saw the problem with the Bob2x deinterlacer. Problem goes away using other interlacers. It would be nice to fix this since bob2x is what makes the most sense for viewing 1080i on my 720p tv.

But you had no color corruption on this system? With SD sources that is?

No color corruption for me. I think that might be a different, unrelated, problem you are having.

Ok, thanks. I've hadn't realy had time to test it that hard. By now i'm just hoping that 8.4 will magicly fix the problem. If 8.4 ever comes that is ;)
SOLVED: I had set "Enable picture controls" in playback settings. That caused the color corruption.
