View Full Version : Motherboad switch - any "Gotcha's"?

The machine I'm using to run MythTV is dying. I believe it is a motherboard issue so I've found a replacement.

The current motherboard is an ECS K7S5A (hey it has lasted me 5 years so I got lucky).
The proc is an XP1800+
I'm running FC5.
I've got an Hauppauge PVR 350, Nvidia GF4 video, 2 harddrives (Seagate 150GB, 250GB, both PATA) and a Sony DVD burner that I plan on continuing to use.

What sort of issues should I expect if I switch to a ASRock K7VM3 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=15048&vpn=K7VM3&manufacture=ASRock)?

Since I'm using onboard sound, I'm guessing that may need some tweaking when I switch, but what else should I expect?

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Seeing as the motherboard and Chipset are old, you really shouldn't have too many problems, though I don't believe I've ever personally used the board.

Thanks.

Socket A boards aren't all that common anymore so it isn't like I have a lot of options without motherboard+proc and associated new install (which I'm trying to avoid with a couple hundred gigs on an LVM partition)
