Hi, I'm reading phoronix for months now, its fun to be here finally.
I installed fglrx on my Kubuntu 13.04, and 3D works nice on the Source engine, however, 2D is slow as hell.
I cannot Scroll properly in firefox, its too slow. moving windows with Xrender is slow.
But when i set KDE to use OpenGL instead of Xrender, moving windows works smoothly. But 2D is still slow.
I tried Catalyst 13.4 from amd.com, tried fglrx and then fglrx-updates.
what can be done to resolve this issue?
thanks!

I do not know why distros use flrx 9.someting or 8.something, while AMD use Catalyst 13.something 12.somethin, and then only present fglrx numer in info panel AFTER installation. I just need to install newest driver. But how can I know if distro packaged is newest?
