    I wonder with what hardware does Red Hat want to use compute with on Nouveau. I'm sure it needs proper power management, compute performance should be minimal at base clock speed.

      Would be nice if they could get power management working properly. Fedora 27 locks up on boot if you don't use nouveau.runpm=0.

        article talks about development of mesa by mesa developer. he can't fix kernel lock ups (though redhat employs kernel nouveau devs too)
