Isn't this just another name for JeOS? That's what I used to use last time I ran Ubuntu VM's - this was round 10 years back though.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. I pretty much default to Alpine now for Docker images but in the rare cases Alpine isn't sufficient this will be nice. Guess we just need to wait.

If you're looking for the images for your cloud provider, these minimal ones are not (yet) available on the Ubuntu image finder site (with URL beginning with "cloud-images..."). Instead, they are available in the listing of public images within your specific cloud provider. For instance, the one for AWS can be found via (AWS login required):
