Well lookie here. All sorts of appropriation shenanigans going on. First we got NVIDIA, a human company, appropriating the name Tegra from the genus of Tegra bush crickets. How dare they? Shame on you NVIDIA. Shame. Do the Tegra crickets have no rights?

But how the hell are these crickets supposed to be in the right when they're clearly appropriating human words? Appropriating Tegra from humans. Those crickets clearly have no integrity. Come up with your own words, crickets. Yer not foolin anyone. I'm on to you, crickets. I'm on to you.

If we had some cross-species DRM then crickets wouldn't have appropriated Tegra for NVIDIA to have to appropriate it back. Two wrongs make a right git of this situation.

What I don't get is why Linux users are stealing acronyms from the American Petroleum Institute, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Society of Cartographers? Just what we need, more goddamn appropriators. If y'all are so woke that color-lists are bad why do ya gotta be appropriating acronyms from both sides of the pond?

Is nothing safe from appropriation in Linux?

Why are reactionaries so bad at parodying things? And more importantly, why do they shoehorn these things into discussions?

Idunno I thought it was funny, get you a sense of humour. I don't think buddy here was going for a scathing critique of anything, nor implying that this is relevant as anything except a joke.

P.S. reactionary is just a slur, it is virtually meaningless after a long history of overuse.

That's not how humor works. There's no universal sense of humor. Maybe you're not funny either.

Pretty sure he was referencing someone else in a previous thread who was saying that it's weird to call a type memory "OTP" when OTP is a European bank. The thing is, they were talking about "appropriation" or anything, they were just acting like multiple things never shared an acronym before.

It absolutely has a meaning, and I was using it the correct way.

I disagree. Watching someone get hit in the balls is universally funny.

If that were the case then I'd find the idea of "ballbusting" porn to be funny instead of terrifying.
