Phoronix: Linux 5.15.35 Released With Important Performance Fix For Intel Alder Lake

For those making use of the Linux 5.15 LTS kernel such as Ubuntu 22.04 with using this long-term support kernel by default, Linux 5.15.35 is out today and is a notable point release for back-porting an Intel P-State driver fix for Intel Alder Lake systems that leads to much better performance in properly deciding between P and E core selection. Here are some benchmarks on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with Linux 5.15.35 against other kernel options.

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

Thanks for Your invaluable work to the Linux ecosystem!

Also, in hindsight, it's rather amusing how much worry some of us had about Intel's "Thread Director" hybrid-x86 support under Linux, when 3 [three!] lines of code were all that is needed...

I guess the hardware is much more autonomous than some Linux kernel hackers want to admit.
(See the non-issue of missing idle driver support on Alder Lake until recently or the notoriously bad clockspeed decisions "schedutil" likes to make.)

Yeah, birdie was claiming it would be years before linux could get good performance on Alder Lake because of all the special work windows had to do to get it going. And that was after the patch had come out that fixed it all, it just hadn't been tested on phoronix yet.

Linux got all it's e-core stuff working years ago when ARM smartphones started going that direction.

This only shows how windows is behind and birdie is clueless as (nearly) always. I wonder when m$ crowd fixes big locks in ntfs? Probably never.
