Phoronix: Linux SoC Patches Revised For The AMD Pensando Elba

Earlier this year Pensando engineers began posting Linux patches for enabling their Elba DPU SoC. This data processing unit is powered by 16 x Arm Cortex-A72 cores and designed for supporting up to dual 200GE networking with this SoC intended for high-end networking equipment. It didn't take long for the AMD integration less than one month after AMD completed its Pensando acquisition with the new Linux patches now reflected as the AMD Pensando Elba...

I wish AMD would make a ARM-based Ryzen CPU.

I wish AMD to produce x86 ISA on ARM Cotrex A72 microachitecture or ARM ISA on Zen4 core or at least Sykbridge 2.0

AMD’s Project Skybridge, the ARM/x86 hybrid platform, is officially dead

AMD set to Open Manufacturing Plant in Malaysia in Early 2023

      e Yesterday, 17:17

AMD's Malaysian subsidiary, TF AMD Microelectronics is in the middle of the construction of a US$452 million manufacturing plant on the island of Penang off the west coast of Malaysia. The facility itself is said to cover 139,000 square metres and is said to create some 3,000 jobs related to advanced semiconductor engineering. The new plant will bring AMD's total manufacturing space in Penang to 210,000 square metres, as the company already has a prior facility on the island.

The plant will allow AMD to expand the chip packaging side of its business, something that is going to be key for many of its future products, considering AMD appears to be focusing on manufacturing a wider range of chips that are made up from multiple chiplets.

Then it wouldn't be a Ryzen CPU.

Why not? Ryzen is just a name. We see that everywhere: a Ford Mustang is commonly a sports sedan, but they also have an SUV with that name. And the Fiat 500 is commonly known as one of the tiniest cars ever (at least in the Western part of the world), but they also have an SUV with that name. So AMD could easily name an ARM CPU “Ryzen”.
