Too bad Zen 3 CPUs are affected, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biDUsb_VRkk tested on Ryzen 5950x. And theoretically AMD has microcode updates they just don't publish for most models, ... :-/

Came here to say that, just bought a refurbished ThinkPad with an octo core Zen 2, best laptop I've ever had. Not everyone can afford the latest and greatest.

So is this the cause of random lockups with Ryzen (at least Zen 1)?

the word aging came before "zen 1", but 2019 zen 2 cant be considered new if we're two generations and four years past that, they're aging because they have a specific set of errata and lack of mitigations, also everything is aging...
