Phoronix: Mesa 23.1 RadeonSI Enables Rusticl OpenCL Support

If Mesa 23.1 couldn't get anymore exciting with RADV GPL support enabled by default, more RDNA3 optimizations, continued Zink optimizations, more Intel DG2/Alchemist enhancements, and a load of other features... Support for RadeonSI with the Rusticl Rust-written OpenCL driver has been merged!..

It's great that its been merged but it's far from perfect yet, running the two more advanced luxmark tests takes hours to compile the kernels (if you have enough memory to do so)

Will it need to be renamed to RSicl?

It's just too bad that OpenCL will most likely never reach feature-parity with CUDA.

The best we can hope for is some kind of seamless API translator akin to DXVK at this point (and no, ROCm is still an over-engineered joke).

There was ZLUDA for Intel GPUs, however this is the last commit from early 2021:

          Search for a new developer
And yet, no one stepped up, sadly...

I've been reading about that, too. Talk about some major

Here's a thread I created about it yesterday so this one doesn't get derailed.

Most exciting news... I hope Davinci Resolve will work with this

Yeah, I still get mostly black images in darktable but it's nice it's been merged nevertheless.

not going to happen unless pytorch etc implement support for openCL. they only support cuda and hip.
