Those changes should also benefit XWayland I guess.

Concerning Xorg running on bare hardware taken from the article:
But as far as when the next X.Org Server release will be (if ever...) remains to be seen with very few involved these days in continued X.Org Server feature development.

This is the kind of trolling that puts people off Wayland.

Low IQ puts people off Wayland, not bants on the Internet.

*Development* on Xorg is pretty much complete because frankly displaying pictures on a screen was a solved problem back in the 80s.

Wayland is basically yet another Marvel superhero film reboot that no-one needs, yet keeps the public amused

Firstly, the level of intelligence becomes irrelevant the moment you decide to comment in a discussion on the internet no matter the validity of your viewpoint.

Secondly, there is enough evidence of community revolt against toxic behavior in the past. In the case of Rust as an example, people who actually valued the technology itself have resorted to playing the devil's advocates against Rust due it it's toxic fan base. It's even interesting that the reactions on both sides have been passive aggressive instead of active quarreling because of:
                    - accommodating peer pressure.
                    - almost everyone complaint about rust is from people who value rust and use it but decide to play the devil's advocate against toxicity.

And guess what? If actually helped. Less people now resort to overly suggesting everything is rewritten in Rust and it has been downgraded from Jesus Christ status to a very useful and well thought out language which is a more healthy and objective view of Rust. Similarly, eventually as less people lose sleep over Xorg's existence and less people feel tormented that it still gets patches, Wayland will become a more healthy and useful technology.

No one wants to use a technology that is supported by toxic people. People have done it with Apple. They moved to Samsung and Huawei because local iPhone users have been chronically toxic. Take macOS for example. It's an actual certified UNIX! How cool is that? It's superior technology. Still many detest it unfairly because of the "fan base".

This is not only the case in software. In different engineering disciplines, game changing advancements are abandoned all the time because no one wants to deal with toxicity.
