    AbiWord, the open-source word processor that is part of GNOME Office, has reached version 2.8 this morning. While AbiWord may not be as popular as OpenOffice.org, AbiWord 2.8 does bring an impressive set of changes with some notable new features in particular.Among the highlights for AbiWord 2.8 include GNOME Telepathy-based collaboration support for allowing multiple individuals to remotely work on a single document simultaneously, annotation / comment support, support for smart quotes, multi-page document viewing, true SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) support, improved support for OpenDocument Format and Office Open XML file formats, a new printing framework, and much more...
