Absolutely Beautiful

Look at this... 10K of open-source code that enables these co-processors and makes heavy use of the existing kernel infrastructure in an elegant manner.

Now compare that the closed-source blobs from Nvidia or AMD that are absolutely required just to get any sort of compute capability out of their cards. The binary blobs alone are often bigger than the entire kernel image!

Intel is definitely on to something with the whole MIC architecture and it will be exciting to see it progress in the next few years.

I was a little disappointed that Apple didn't implement Phi in its new Mac Pro. Of course it isn't a Linux workstation per say but at times theho car would be a better coprocessor than the GPUs. Maybe there is still a chance.

By the way those blobs are doing much more than the Xeon Phi driver. Not exactly a fair comparison.
