They are a video game developer, so yes they focus on gaming, but gaming can be a succor for development that will also help other use, especially in hardware support and gaming can also bring new user, which might bring further general software development to Linux.

Seconded. Not only the games are proprietary and some of them use DRM, Steam itself is proprietary too... But don't forget the Linux Foundation's goal is quite "commercial" too.
