If/when LXQt gets official wayland support, I might replace XFCE on my laptop for it. XFCE has treated me well but I'm ready to move onto something new that will gain future development.

I'm just surprised LXDE is still getting attention.

Well, the panel and stuff should work under Wayland, but there is no compositor. KWin-Wayland is the part we are waiting for. Weston would work too, but it needs CSDs :-/ and we need urgently one more thing: QtWayland packaged in the major distros.

In the meantime I'm using LXQt on X.

Err, lxpanel has had autohide since forever.

LXQt is still in pre-release stage. GTK-based LXDE is the LTS branch ? so yes, some attention is there.
