    Back in August Rockchip published a DRM driver for their SoCs. While this driver has yet to be mainlined, Rockchip continues revising the open-source driver to address upstream developer feedback...

    Does this mean we have now a completely open source Mali driver? Also,
    Vop devices support iommu mapping
    this means we also have HSA, right?

    Developers have yet to comment on this latest revision of the patches and given that Linux 3.17 will likely be out today and this Rockchip DRM has yet to be staged in drm-next, it will likely miss out on the Linux 3.18 merge window.

      No-the first article about it indicates that it's unaccelerated 2d only.

        HSA includes IOMMUv2 functionality (ATS/PRI support), which allows a GPU to use unpinned memory via the CPU's page tables and have the OS fault in pages as needed. Regular IOMMU/SMMU functionality "only" provides static mapping.

          Ah, I guess I should have read it...
          I still wonder: if it wasn't for reverse engineered ARM GPU drivers, what would be the state of things in ARM? And, why aren't ARM vendors thinking about the possibilities of having well supported hardware with (at least) open source drivers? Lots of people are already using those android "Mini-PCs", installing Linux in them... why don't we have massive ARM Linux distribution? Even AMD could be doing it already...
