    Even I have abondoned Xfce. A tragic break-up. But without a solid Wayland plan, or even sign of life, I just felt I needed something new. Not totally sold on GNOME yet though.

      Hawaii looks promising as a light-weight Wayland compositor to replace XFCE.

        I tested Jessie through vmware. Wow, its dog-slow compared to Wheezy (We are using VMs at work to freeze whole dev-environments for LTS) - doesnt matter wether "classic" mode or not!
        Enabling 3D_Acceleration helps a bit, or atleast hides the issue when dragging windows.
