Phoronix: There's Many Exciting Possible GSoC 2015 Coding Projects

For student developers wishing to get involved with upstream open-source projects this summer and to be paid $5500 USD by Google for the work, there's one week left to apply to participate in this year's Google Summer of Code. Here's some of the most exciting project ideas I've seen thus far...

Phoronix, Linux Hardware Reviews, Linux hardware benchmarks, Linux server benchmarks, Linux benchmarking, Desktop Linux, Linux performance, Open Source graphics, Linux How To, Ubuntu benchmarks, Ubuntu hardware, Phoronix Test Suite

I think that FreeBSD has ideas proposed to implement CGroups or a similar idea, port NetworkManager, and implement udev/systemd stuff to be interesting personally.

I would love someone to finally fix GTK3 support for GIMP.
Also improve the GTK backend for Wayland.
Also burn old crufty code from X.Org, such as use the new Wayland-shared libinput and burn Xkb, Xinput, Xinput 2, etc.
