    Solaris was cool when Sun ran it, and there was OpenSolaris.

    Solaris now is boring and uninteresting since Oracle bought it and killed OpenSolaris.

        Fortunately ther is illumos now, which continues the OpenSolaris codebase. And it is actively used by joyent, etc.
