      Quite a "leap", if they just make such a high version jump from 13.x indeed!

        The name sort of makes sense. It's based on SLE 12.1, so calling it 12.1 again would have been too confusing. Calling it 14.1 would require subtracting 2, whereas 42.1 requires ignoring the first digit, which is easier. (It's very unlikely we'd ever have SLE 20 at the rate it's going.)
