AMD should step up their game.

I really would like AMD to do well but unfortunately for AMD my brain controls my wallet rather than my heart. Not good enough AMD and you must do better, Nvidia will still keep getting my cash along with Intel.

Is it possible to use this ubuntu patch for getting fglrx installed on a debian system?

Since AMD brought ATI buying ATI hardware is pointless.

It is more pointless that two days ago i got fpu crashing on that rc6 kernel (not using any fglrx of course, fpu is buggy on rewrite)... Not really bug free rewrite my Ingo

And Ubuntu patched fglrx so that buggy fpu overhaul renaming to be in line, blah

I don't understand. How can Canonical patch an AMD closed-source package?

It is dkms module which is builded against kernel(s), that has source and is patchable.

it's dkms. I've heard it called a shim before, that might be the best way to describe it. AMD should keep it updated themselves, but they don't. All that is going away soon though once amdgpu gets implemented.
