    With the recent news from unity I thought I check about webgl 2 for their engine. It's in development and they're researching on using webassembly, simd.js and multithreading (shared buffer array) for webgl.

        There were some issues initially, but they've been fixed since, and IIRC some extra controls were added to limit any malicious use (e.g. prevent DoS by rendering very computationally expensive stuff, clearing (frame)buffer memory to prevent previously used memory being accessed, and such I imagine).
