Does this mean the Steam release is finally happening?

This release also relicenses Warsow assets under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license for ensuring the game is fully free.

Some bits actually stay under CC BY-ND 4.0, which means the game is not fully libre. However, those assets are in separate PK3s with "nonfree" in their name, so that you can identify them (but you can't play without them).

The license mistakenly lists *_nonfree_16pure.pk3 files as under CC BY-ND, the correct name patter is in fact *_nonfree_20pure.pk3, we'll correct that in the future updates. Hopefully the community will eventually contribute new assets to replace the proprietary ones to make the game fully libre.

Eventually, yes. The absence of the game from Steam library shouldn't prevent you from playing it anyway.

Good to see the new free licence! Hopefully Warsow will be packaged again for Debian and Ubuntu.
