Yeah, LLVM's stable release management leaves a lot to be desired compared to GCC. It's appears that half of it is usually just AMD GPU related backports. At least they do stable point releases now, though.
I haven't looked through the commits, but I assume the compiler-rt i386 make build failure still exists. At least the doubleslash in the include that was breaking LLVM was fixed.
And who still uses i386 at this point? J/K. Debian works great.
While I often think that way, recycling old hardware still makes sense at times. Personally I wouldn't even consider i386 (aka 32 bit environments) for any new machine build but hey if I can recycle a old machine into a LinuxCNC box why not.
