        Pretty sure Skylake SKUs with QuickSync have hardware VP9 decoding. The desktop parts support 4096x2048@24 VP9, mobile parts support 1080p60 VP9. The mobile parts don't have HEVC decoding at all AFAIK.

              On a fully updated Centos 7.2 and google-chrome-stable version 48.0.2564.82, I am greeted with "This computer will stop receiving Google chrome updates because this Linux system is no longer supported" warning message at the top of the window. Does anybody have any idea which specific component Google has issue with?

                They are dropping 32bit support, but apparently are giving the warning to too many people.

                  Apparently, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 has VP9 decoding in hardware (ASIC), inherited by the Tegra parts.
                  But only very recently it was exposed by the latest driver, and only on Windows currently...

                  Update: Driver 361.43 needed and latest LAV filter nightlys, probably also works on Geforce 950.

                  Test GTX 960 on crowd_run_2160p50_VP9_250Mbps.mkv
                  Decode:
                  68-77-80 /3% CPU/94% VPU

                  VPU = Video Processing Unit
                  68 min FPS
                  77 avg FPS
                  80 max FPS

                  Apparently the fixed function unit from Tegra X1
                  Not hyper-fast, but no CPU usage on very demanding 4k demo video.
