Sheesh! None of my routers have that much RAM and flash, and they sure costed more! I guess those Ethernet ports sure are expensive...

Would be fun to see benchmarks of this one day, against the ARM devices recently tested. Even at $19USD this is cheaper than the real cost to actually get a Pi Zero in your hands.

Huh, what. RPi Zero is exactly $5 according to Phoronix. Could Phoronix be wrong? https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pa...-arm-sbc&num=3

"With the C-Ray multi-threaded ray-tracer, the Tegra boards were leading while the ODROID C1+ continued to lead when it came to these low-cost ARM boards followed by the Banana Pi M2. The slowest board tested aside from the $5 Raspberry Pi Zero was the Orange Pi Plus."

in your hands being the key words here, maybe he's referring to the power brick and shipping costs where he lives.

A Pi Zero is $5, but (afaik) that doesn't include shipping (depending on where you get it from mainly), and it doesn't come with essentials (assuming you don't already have them; wifi or ethernet, video cable (which depending on what you load onto the SD, may not be needed), case, power cable and supply, SD card, codec licenses).

I wonder... would this be able to turn a wired server into a router?

Michael has the official price right, but everywhere 'selling' them at RRP has been out of stock since day one. If you want to actually have one before the summer, your only option is to go with resellers at 5x the price.

No, but maybe you could get USB networking running and have the "wired server" connect to the AP through the available USB Host as another client.

Go to aliexpress and search openwrt. You might find some capable boxes at about the same price.

                    For instance $15 http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEXX-...319187453.html
