So PowerPlay is still disabled by default? That's disappointing. I also didn't realize GPU reset wasn't finished.

When you say "lack of software support", are you talking about radeon (the recommended driver for CIK) or amdgpu (experimental on CIK) ?

Just for the record, a guy named DEBIANxfce is promoting Nvidia... Do you actually know, that debian is all about *free* software? Why don't you just use windows?

Why did they remove HW semaphore support? Seems like a good thing to have for Vulkan.

Just ignore the Nvidia trolls... there are a lot of them on this forum and if you listen to them, then you might think that AMD cards are totally unusable on Linux and there are no problems at all with Nvidia cards....then you try them both and discover that both sides have their problems.... I do AMD since OSS is a must

It' not necessary with the GPU scheduler.

Try oss radeon driver with wine-staging and TR 2013, maybe you notice that radeon oss driver is only for web browsing and other light use. Crimson is recommmended for Kaveri if you want to play with good fps and without corrupted graphics. Crimson does not support xorg 1.18, kernel 4.4.1 (current stable kernel in kernel.org, please follow that) and Vulcan.

Nvidia linux driver has had long support for xorg 1.18, kernel 4.4 and now it has Vulcan support too. We have nvidia 750ti and gt440 linux gaming computers here, so I can compare.

Nvidia does not use resources for Nouveau and that is why Nvidia linux driver is up to date. Clearly Amd has some resource managment problems and maybe that is one reason for almost bankrupt business situation. Amd Apu technology is great and the future of personal computer graphics, Amd should focus to that and not manufacture power hungry gpu cards, nobody who follows pc technology buys them.
Wow! It kind of shocking. nVidia has a lot of resources invested in their proprietary driver. It's no wonder they have timely support. But to associate that with the fact that they have zero OSS support is really dumb.

EDIT: Oh and using nVidia's lack of OSS support as an excuse to say AMD shouldn't manufacture discreet cards is ultra dumb too.

It's enabled by default in both 4.5 and 4.6 as of:
