We hear more about their elections than their work, it says a lot about this useless organisation

If you look who the members of the board are you'll realise that isn't true

I am one of the directors of the X.Org foundation which is led entirely by volunteers. No money EVER comes to us directly.

What we do is try to make it as good an environment as possible for having as many contributors (corporate and hobbyists) working together towards an open source graphics stack. To this end, we fund and sometimes organize the X.Org Developer Conference which is free to attend and we even pay the travel/accomodation cost of hobbyists who cannot afford to come to present their work.

We also manage the X.org organisation for the Google Summer of Code and pay students directly through our own program called EVoC which is like the GSoC but allows student to do this all year round.

Finally, we make sure everyone can collaborate and we collaborate with freedesktop (large overlap in people in the two orgs) to provide the necessary infrastructure for people to host their projects, wikis and such.

If you have ideas on what we could do to help, we would love to hear about them. Based on your comment, I would think that either you are a troll or you are misinformed (which is definitely something we could work on, but would provide little value aside from receiving less bashing).
