Congrats on 12 years. I'm relatively new to Phoronix, but value the articles and community here immensely. Great job, Michael.

Thanks! Yep, will be getting the GTX 1080 one way or another on/before launch day... Hopefully from NVIDIA so I don't need to spend the $600+. Hopefully I'm still on the list as one of the NVIDIA PR persons did complain about some of my Nouveau Kepler firmware related articles and other open-source focused stories earlier in year.

            Congrats, Michael!

            It's been a while since I'm a Phoronix reader.

I would like to see what GTX 1070 would look like in terms of performance, power consumption, and performance-per-watt. And maybe even AMD Zen! Not that I'm going to buy one this year. As for GPU, I might skip a generation of 10x0 GPUs for now.

Oh, and 386 posts! Reminds me of Intel 386. Makes me wonder how we have come so far from the days of 386.

                Michael-
I would really l would really like to see an expert--you--write an article on the sad state of the current laptop offerings, and what Microsoft has done to make it well-nigh impossible to install Linux on these computers because of their manufacturers' UEFI and Secure Boot machinations; two machines come to mind immediately: the Asus XT205A and the Lenovo IdeaPad 200S. Both would make great examples of the 'new breed' of computers which have been spawned by Microsoft, and which are impossible to use as Linux machines.
For a quick look at what the industry is coming to, read this article by a very hard working, very knowledgeable champion of Linux, and his difficulties with installing Linux on a new-generation machine:

                http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-m...ment=438428476.

                Thanks for your consideration.
                Warmest regards...

Michael i think it would be very beneficial to many Phoronix Test Suite users to include FAHBench in the list of available tests as this really stresses gpus like nothing else does. could you try it out on the gtx1080? FAHBench is available here https://fahbench.github.io/ for both windows and linux. thanks again for all your hard work.

Can it be fully automated? WIll poke around to see, but if you have any bash scripts or anything, would help to getting it added to OB/PTS quickly. Thanks.
