Phoronix: Arcan: A New Open-Source Display Server Built Atop A Game Engine

What happens when a game engine meets a display server meets a multimedia framework? Oh yeah and whereby the behavior is controlled with Lua. No, it's not a joke, just the latest creation in the open-source world. Say hello to Arcan as a new Linux display server...

its gonna fail miserably. Like Mir fails now. It's not gonna be adopted.

Why did he use quaternion for? I didn't see any rotation in the demo.

Ok I rewatched the video. There are rotations.
I'm confused about the whole project, anyway congratulation.

normally I don't get excited by new graphics environments, as I'm using mostly the terminal, but this is a really interesting new concept!

not only the features are great, but I would expect good performances on that

It's much much much simpler than Mir or Wayland (with all due respect, it's still a feat). It has a place, of course not in mainstream.

Maybe steamos can make use of something like this. Wonder how it would work for games... Seems like a better alternative than Wayland and Mir since it already has support for Nvidia drivers
