I remember there being opengl plugins for psx for a while.

Edit: Maybe I'm thinking of ePSXe lol.

PBP support is now much more mature. There is support for encrypted official PS3/PSP PSOne games added now thanks to Zapeth.
Wow! Besides the OpenGL support, that is pretty awesome. Too bad Media Go does not work on Linux (Needs Windows Media Player to be installed).

AFAIK, the other ones were based on old fixed-function OpenGL.

Yeah, there were OpenGL plugins for ePSXe over a decade ago, but Mednafen is much cleaner if you just want a single app for multiple consoles, and my single biggest complaint up to now is that the rendering options available for Playstation emulation in Mednafen were always pretty sparse (i.e. no internal upscaling). This was long overdue!

Damn, and I only threw out all my old PS1 CDs a couple of years ago...

Did you even try ripping them before throwing them away? Disk space is rather cheap these days, could keep the games indefinitely as disc images

This saddens me. Just a while back I had to write a software rendering backend for pcsx2 to be able to use it, because its only existing backend required GL 3.3, which I don't have on that comp. Mednafen better not make this the only backend for PS1.
