Phoronix: Reiser4 Implements Mirror & Failover Support

Edward Shishkin, one of the last remaining Reiser4 developers and the one who has been leading this out-of-tree file-system the past few years, has implemented logical volumes support with support for mirrors (in effect, RAID 0) and failover support at the file-system level...

Do you mean RAID-1, for mirroring, rather than RAID-0 for striping?

Rename it already, it won't get any adoption until the name is shed.

Is Reiser4 the best file system out there?
Is it better than ext4, XFS, Tux3, ZFS, Btrfs, HAMMER, Bcachefs?

Yes, if you have many small files, or create and remove files very frequently. It might be the best FS for desktop use.

For other purposes, ext4 or XFS are usually better.

I still use ReiserFS for my Gentoo Portage repository but I can't be bothered with 4 if it's not mainlined.

                    GNU ReiserFS. Changes everything.

Levity aside, a Reiserless name change is at least 3,073 days overdue.
