So late... Wayland reached 1.0 years ago...

I really hope the Mesa guys stand up against Mir, no sane person is going to be supporting it when every other distro is looking at Wayland.

If Canonical want to pursue with it, they're on their own.

I hope that Ubuntu will drop Mir and replace it by Wayland.

They'll have to. All their NIH projects have failed so far. The list is so huge, but probably everybody remembers at least 4-5 of their failed NIH projects (upstart, bzr, ubuntu one etc.). The whole distro is a huge failure. Also nice community work with Jonathan Riddell. It's the most pathetic distro so far.

...and the most widely adopted one. Funny, isn't it? If all those adopters had known about your in-depth analysis before...

I think he means "pathetic" in the sense of "think about how much further they could be if they worked with the rest of the ecosystem to offload as much of the burden as possible, rather than repeatedly trying and failing to set up a 'We have a CLA, so we get license exceptions you don't' position on some essential ecosystem component."

The majority of Ubuntu users are consumers. They consume, they don't produce. A pack of sheeple.

The problem of Canonical is that the real "King of NIH" Red Hat is in the way. Only Red Hat managed to put unpopular projects down peoples throats and get away with it, they are big enough to do that. Canonical did not have as many developers nor the money to do the same.

Not sure what you're talking about, do you have examples of Redhat NIH projects? Most of the issue with Canonical is that stupid CLA IMHO.
