Phoronix: Feral Still Won't Confirm Or Deny Vulkan For Deus Ex On Linux

Back in September Feral Interactive announced Deus Ex: Mankind Divided for Linux and macOS. This game under Windows is one of the few titles using Direct3D 12 and Feral announced their macOS port would be making use of Apple's low-level Metal graphics API. Unfortunately, it's still not clear yet whether the Linux port will feature Vulkan support -- the open, cross-platform equivalent to Metal and D3D12 -- or just have an OpenGL renderer...

If they aren't advertising it for media hype, then it's not there.

Or they simply have both OpenGL and Vulkan wrapper in testing and they haven't decided yet which will be released. Consider that not all machines have proper Vulkan support so for them doing it exclusively would mean decreasing potential market share of the game. So I will go with OpenGL. Metal is used on OS X due of not having much alternative there.

Would be reasonable because of the hungry graphics, a nice training opportunity for the dev team and advertising for Feral and the game.

So we can assume they are working on Vulkan, but the window is too small that the 'future' is a month later.

Let's learn to read between lines. When they say that, its because that feature is not coming.

It should be "less than", not "less then". The latter doesn't make sense.

                Typo, thanks.

Is the question of Vulkan for linux Deus Ex [because] that game has a DX12 renderer? That is what the article implies.

If so, then I have the same question with regards to Total War Warhammer... Likewise, with DX12 and on Feral's todo list.

The thing with Feral is that they never say anything that wasn't already said in some way in a press release or twitter announcement. So we don't really know anything. They'll probably announce the specs on Thursday, which will probably also clear up the deal with Vulkan.
